SWAPA Statement on Flight 2504

February 26, 2025

(DALLAS) — The Southwest Airlines Pilots Association (SWAPA) extends its deepest gratitude for the overwhelming support and appreciation shown to the pilots of Flight 2504. Their professionalism and composure in a challenging situation exemplify the dedication and training of all Southwest Airlines pilots.

“Our pilots are humble professionals who train for moments like these but never seek the spotlight,” said SWAPA President Captain Jody Reven. “There will undoubtedly be a time and place to honor these pilots, and we intend to do so. Until then, we ask that the investigation process be respected, as well as the crew’s privacy. We are truly thankful for the support from our government partners, industry peers, and passengers.”

Safety remains the top priority at Southwest Airlines, and the performance of our pilots across more than 4,000 flights daily demonstrates that commitment. This event underscores the rigorous training and procedural discipline that our pilots embody.

As always, SWAPA remains committed to supporting advancements in aviation safety. We believe that only good will come from this event, and we look forward to the technologies and safety enhancements that will emerge to make air travel even safer across the National Airspace System,” said Captain Reven.
