CA Tom Nekouei

Vice President

Captain Tom Nekouei is the vice president of the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association (SWAPA). Tom began his service at SWAPA as a Critical Incident Response Team member and then was elected as the Denver domicile representative for the 2015-2016 term. He was reelected in 2016 to serve his second consecutive two-year term as the Denver domicile representative, after which he ran and won the seat for 2nd vice president.

Tom has been a pilot at Southwest Airlines for nearly 18 years. Prior to Southwest, he worked at two other airlines as well as Airbus Industries, an airliner manufacturer.

Tom grew up in Germany and on the western slope of Colorado. He holds an undergraduate degree in aerospace studies with an emphasis on space and remote sensing policy from the University of North Dakota. He also has his master’s degree in organizational leadership from the University of Denver.

Currently residing in Denver with his daughter, Tom enjoys coaching her cross-country team and supports her Western-horse-riding adventures. They also travel around the world together during school breaks. His personal passions are training for ultra-long-distance running races in the summer and ski-mountaineering races in the winter.
