CA Jody Reven

President

Captain Jody Reven is president of the Southwest Airlines Pilots Association (SWAPA). He was elected president in the fall of 2024 and began his term in January 2025.

Captain Reven, 53, was born in Goldthwaite, Texas, and graduated from Goldthwaite High School in 1989. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice and a minor in aerospace studies from Southwest Texas State University.

Jody began his career in the military as an enlisted U.S. Marine and mortarman in 1992. He then joined the U.S. Air Force in 1995 where he flew the C-130 Hercules and served as an instructor at Undergraduate Pilot Training. Jody was hired by Southwest Airlines in 2005.

Captain Reven began his service to SWAPA pilots in 2012 by winning a special election and completing the term of the then Houston domicile representative who had stepped down mid-term. Jody then ran for a second term, finishing his time on the SWAPA Board of Directors in December of 2015. At the end of 2015, he was appointed to serve as the board liaison for the newly reconstituted Negotiating Committee following the failure of the first Contract 2012 tentative agreement (TA). Jody was an integral part of the team who successfully negotiated the second TA that was ratified in 2016. His leadership was recognized when we was then appointed Chair of the Negotiating Committee in 2021. During his time as NC Chair, SWAPA successfully navigated its second-ever round of Federal Mediation and emerged in January of 2024 with a contract. The fully rewritten CBA included the largest raise for pilots in SWAPA history, huge gains in the areas of benefits and retirement, and scheduling improvements that resulted in it being overwhelmingly approved by the pilot membership.

Jody splits his time between Dallas and Goldthwaite, Texas. He is a proud father of two grown sons, Tristan and Mason.
